The Scottish Fiddlers played to a very attentive and supportive audience at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake, on Friday 18th September. During the half time interval tea, coffee and biscuits was provided by the friends of the Church, and a very well supported raffle was drawn.

Following the recent retirement of the resident Vicar, the Concert was in aid of much needed Church funds, as the congregation are desperately seeking to keep their Church going whilst they await the hopeful prospect of a new Minister being appointed.

The follow-up letter below was very kindly sent to the Fiddlers by June Mortlock - Fundraiser and Chairman of the Good Shepherd PCC.

The Scottish Fiddlers wish the congregation well in their future endeavours, and look forward to helping again in the future.

Would all 'Fiddlers please note that the rehearsal scheduled for 24th May 2015 has been cancelled. This is because this date coincides with the Bank Holiday weekend and Half Term for the Schools.

In view of the impending Concert at All Saints, Freshwater, on 13th June 2015, an additional rehearsal has been arranged for Sunday 7th June, 18:00hrs, at the Newport Congregational Church Hall in Pyle Street. We look forward to seeing you there.

Following on from the Concert held on 11th April 2015 at Priory School, Whippingham, which was in aid of the Replacement Heating System Fund for the nearby Whippingham Church, a letter of grateful thanks from the Church has been received and is reproduced below;-

St Mildred's Church

St Mildred’s Church at Whippingham is in desperate need of a new heating system to replace their old and broken one – which is now beyond economic repair. To achieve their aim, the Church Council, Friends Association and parishioners are pursuing a range of fundraising activities including; second-hand book sales, coffee mornings and evening Concerts to raise the required funds.
On Saturday 11th April the Priory School at Whippingham very kindly allowed the use of their School Hall for a Concert performance by the Isle of Wight Scottish Fiddlers. The result was a packed Hall and many positive comments in respect of the entertainment provided. During the half time interval Friends of the Church provided teas, coffees and traditional Scottish shortbread, and the proceeds raised by this, the ticket sales and a raffle resulted in almost £300 being added towards the Heating Fund. Many thanks go out to everyone who helped in making this a very successful and enjoyable evening.

It has been a few years since we last played there, but on 15th March 2015 the Fiddlers performed an afternoon Concert at the beautiful St Boniface Church, Bonchurch.
The Programme included performances by Felix on his cello - playing Danny Boy, the Accordion Trio of Rene, Helen and Lillian - playing Highland Cathedral, and Ken on the piano - playing Reflection Rag.

Saturday 31st January 2015 saw the IW Scottish Fiddlers playing at a new venue - the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake.
Despite the extremely cold weather outside - which the Church heating system struggled to overcome, a good attendance was achieved.
The Concert was in aid of the Church funds and the cause was also helped by the Church Friends who made light refreshments for the half time break - which included much welcomed cups of hot tea/coffee.

On Friday 16th January 2015 the Chillerton Village Association held a "Bangers and Mash" evening in the village Community Hall. Due to the popularity of this annual event and the healthy numbers of those attending, there was only enough space for a small representative group from the Scottish Fiddlers to play. Before playing, the 'Fiddlers were provided with the same delicious meal as that provided to the rest of the attendees, and the players extend their most grateful thanks to the Association for this hospitality.

The event was greately enjoyed by all those present, and many expressions of thanks were relayed to the players at the close of the evening.
