Thursday 12th June 2014 saw the premier at the Apollo Theatre of a new play entitled “MUSIC ON A DISTANT SHORE”.

Performed by the Isle of Wight’s own “ORIGINAL THEATRE” Company, the play was runner-up in their From Page to Stage writing competition. The very successful competition resulted in entries from all over the world. The play’s author – David Weir, was in attendance for the premier.

The play is funny, but also takes a poignant look at how a bereaved wife – Elaine, and her teenage son – Kevin, struggle to build a life for themselves after the death of Elaine’s husband – Malcolm, and Kevin’s father. Throughout their struggle they strive to keep a connection between themselves and Malcolm, who they miss so much.
